Respira Chest Salve

A gentle alternative to essential-oil based balms, this chest salve is crafted with a blend of whole herbs, thoughtfully selected to support you and provide comfort during seasonal shifts.

I created this salve because l wanted a chest rub that didn’t use essential oils.

Generally, l try not to use essential oils outside of diffusing because they are:

  • highly concentrated and must be used with great caution.

  • incredibly plant dense; it takes about 100kg of lemon balm to make a single 15ml bottle of essential oil, which is about 11 or so laundry baskets full. I don’t feel this is environmentally viable.

Whole-herb remedies are much gentler and bring out different constituents, and are mild in comparison. I feel more comfortable putting these on myself and my family.

As a whole herb infused product, it will not smell as pungent as an essential oil based product.

Respira brings together herbs and a warming spice that have long been traditionally used in folk preparations to support ease of breathing, warmth through the chest, and a sense of comfort during the colder months.

This blend includes:

  • Eucalyptus, thyme, and peppermint are traditionally valued for their strong, clearing aromas that invite deeper, more spacious breathing.

  • Mullein and calendula offer a soft, comforting quality, long associated with gentleness and support.

  • Rosemary adds warmth and circulation.

  • Cardamom provides a subtle heat that has been traditionally used to warm and enliven both body and senses.

  • Organic Olive Oil, Eucalyptus Leaf, Thyme Leaf, Peppermint Leaf, Mullein Leaf, Calendula Flower, Rosemary Leaf, Cardamom Seed, Locally Sourced Beeswax.

  • Warm balm between the hands and apply a layer to the chest.

  • Avoid contact with eyes and patch test before full use to check for any skin sensitivities.

    For the longevity of this product, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
